At Ease carries notes of rustic malts, brown bread, hay, noble hops, and a kiss of oak softness. At Ease is our Altbier. Brewed with a complex assortment of Munich, Dark Munich, and Aromatic German malts, At Ease is constructed to be a hearty, robustly-flavored beer in an easy-drinking package.

At Ease is our Altbier, brewed with tradition in mind, with an added step of oak conditioning. It pours a deep copper color with a rising head of off-white foam. Toasted malt and a touch of cocoa sit up front, with a firm, clean bitterness behind them. Altbier is an old way of making beer. You ferment it cool like an ale, then lager it cold and let it settle. We take it one step further and let it rest on oak. The wood softens the edges and leaves a quiet trace of vanilla. We are as proud of this beer as anything we make at Tree House. It is patient, honest, and exactly what we set out to make. Pour it into a clean glass, take your time, and relax.
At Ease is our spin on a historical, underrepresented style of ale that was common before lagers became synonymous with German brewing. Our top-fermented Altbier pours a dark amber color and utilizes a complex malt bill, bringing forth flavors of rustic bread, hay, and noble spice. Once it reaches peak clarity and crispness, we further condition it on oak as an homage to the wooden vessels it would have been stored and served in so very long ago. This beer is a thoughtful and conceptual digression into our past, and it's one of our favorites in our classic program. It hits especially hard on draft, and we always root for a few kegs to last until spring. The extra time in stainless turns its nose at diminishing returns for longer than you'd expect.
