This quintessential Brown Ale carries notes of toffee, caramel, chocolate, earthy hops, and dark fruit. Bear is Tree House brewer Brendan’s recipe and his first scaled commercial beer. It has all the characteristics of a classic English Brown Ale with a distinct American twist.
This conceptual riff was right under our nose for way too long. 🐻 🍯 🐝 We took a small portion of Bear and added wildflower honey, which, much to a real bear's dismay, doesn't add any sweetness. It actually does the opposite: it dries out the body during fermentation while imparting a subtle floral note to the aroma. If you're not planning on sharing, we suggest hoisting your stash onto a high branch, a good distance away from your campsite. 😉🏕️
The magic of malt. Bear is our American Brown Ale, and it carries notes of toffee, caramel, chocolate, earthy hops, and dark fruit: all from a complex grain bill. What separates the style from its European counterparts is an amplified charge of West Coast hops. Hovering above its rich body is a blast of citrus and pine that doesn't detract but balances. We make it all year round simply because we drink it all year round. We won't tell the bears if you don't.
Bear is our American Brown Ale that feels just right, with notes of toffee, chocolate, and coffee, and a bold burst of American hops. Citrus and pine balance its complex maltiness, making it one of our most flavorful dark beers that easily turns into a session. Our classic beer program is broad and mature, led by the character and refinement of simple, well-executed beers like Bear.
Bear with just a hint of Coffee to shake off that hibernation. As soon as the beans are roasted and off-gassed, we bag 'em up and let the beer flow. Bear, conditioned on our house beans, is an aromatic delight; it complements this old standby like nothing else.
Are you one of the few who haven't tried Bear? It is time, my friend. Bear is our American Brown Ale that perfectly balances our love of malt complexity and bold hoppy flavor. Pouring a deep brown, the glass fills with aromas of toasted brown bread, toffee, citrus, and pine. Following behind are notes of caramel malts, coffee, and roasted nuts. Bear has been a constant in our lineup due to its commanding profile and effortless drinkability. It might not look like a core beer, but it comes around often and for good reason.
Bear is roaring off the canning line this morning! What makes an American Brown Ale different from a regular Brown Ale? If you guessed hops, you would be correct! Sweet and toasty notes of brown bread, toffee, and chocolate are balanced by an assertive bitterness from an American hop blend. It's a low-key gem in our lineup that's hard to pass up. 🧸🧸🧸 #productphotography #productphotodaily #photography #craftbeer #treehousebrewing #beergram #beerstagram #beersandcameras #beerlover #beerbeerbeer #beerme #beergeek #beertography #beernerd #fujifilm #gfx100II @fujifilmx_us@profoto
Bear is distinctly American Brown Ale in that it carries the mellow notes of its historical counterpart but has a surge of pine and fruit notes from a charge of hops to balance its sweet malt bill. Who doesn't love a sweet, slightly roasty and nutty ale - it's such a joy on a cool summer evening. #productphotography #productphotodaily #photography #craftbeer #treehousebrewing #beergram #beerstagram #beersandcameras #beerlover #beerbeerbeer #beerme #beergeek #beertography #beernerd #fujifilm #gfx100II @fujifilmx_us@profoto

Out of hibernation, our Brown Ale makes its deliciously malty return to the lineup today. Bear's notes of brown bread, light chocolate, and distinctive nuttiness pair oh so well with a meal on these cooler spring evenings.
12.17.22 Saturday surprise #1 - A fresh round of Bear, our Brown Ale! Bear has all the characteristics of a classic English Brown Ale with a distinct American twist. It pours a nearly opaque dark brown with a sticky caramel colored head. Aromas of toffee, caramel, chocolate, and earthy hops prep the palate for the flavor to come. We taste toffee, brown bread, caramel candy, varied nuttiness, and a melange of dark fruit. The earthy hops dance throughout and are balanced beautifully by a brown sugar sweetness. Delicious. Bear is one of our favorite food beers - it pairs brilliantly with nearly everything… including nothing! It is a lovely and unique example of a brown ale. Brewed in honor of those who leave a lasting and influential impression on our lives.
