Magic of Garston

Pouring a turbid pale yellow color into your glass, it explodes with notes of Sauvignon Blanc, apricot, mango, and juicy citrus. To say that our experience at Garston Hops in the Southland of New Zealand had an impact on us would be an understatement. This chance encounter marked the culmination of an unforgettable and impressionable odyssey through the land of the long white cloud.

5 photos: Magic of Garston, Indeed!

Magic of Garston, Indeed! A chance encounter in 2023 led to the first import of @garstonhops to the United States by Tree House. Each year since we’ve committed to supporting the small hop farm located in the incredibly scenic settlement of Garston, New Zealand just an hour south of Queenstown and 400 miles removed from the nearest hop garden. The beers made with Garston Hops carry an incredible singularity not found anywhere else in the world. Whether Trail Garston Cascade or Nelson Many Ways - Garston, do not miss a Tree House beer when they come through in fleeting moments throughout the year. Pictured is a week old can of Magic of Garston enjoyed at Welcome Rock high above the garden just seven days after it was packaged. The thrill of getting to enjoy a beer in the place that its character originated ten thousand miles from home is indescribable- we hope you get a sense of the magic in each can.

With the New Zealand hop harvest in full swing and our travels to the land of the long white cloud upcoming, we thought it a perfect time to revive our favorites from the deluge of New Zealand-centric offerings we released in 2024 around the same time. Magic of Garston returns! A chance encounter as we zig-zagged across the island resulted in friendship, collaboration, and some of the most expressive hops we stock in our coolers. After a chance visit to Garston in the New Zealand autumn of 2023, we worked with our friends to import their hops to the United States for the first time. Nelson and Rakau hops explode with notes of Sauvignon Blanc, apricot, mango, and juicy citrus in this highly unique Tree House beer. #productphotography #productphotodaily #photography #craftbeer #treehousebrewing #beergram #beerstagram #beersandcameras #beerlover #beerbeerbeer #beerme #beergeek #beertography #beernerd #fujifilm #gfx100II @fujifilmx_us @profoto

To say that our travels to New Zealand have been influential in our recent brewing endeavor would be an understatement. Not only are the hops grown there produce incredible and unique flavors, but they can vary dramatically based on the farm and the wildly different micro-climates experienced on the South Island. It is within this variation that true magic can occur, and we have spent the last several years curating it into a selection of beers that we are so excited about. These are all currently available, as of 11.12.23, but they will not last long, and some may not be made again for a full year due to the difficulty and limited supply of their ingredients. God of the Forest - Select Riwaka + Motueka honoring the largest Kauri tree in New Zealand (and the world) Kia Ora - All New Zealand-grown ingredients, a first on US soil. Combines Riwaka, Pacific Sunrise, and Nelson in a blissful pale ale. Magic of Garston - Magic of Garston features hops exclusively grown at this tiny Southland farm. Hundreds of miles removed from other New Zealand growers, these Garston-grown hops exhibit a character that is unlike anything else. A true double IPA experience. Manuka - Mānuka is a brilliant beer and a testament to Tree House's unwillingness to let raw material costs deter our brewing endeavor. Containing literal buckets of this renowned New Zealand honey, it contains a depth of character that is a true joy. Silver Fern - Peacharine + Nelson + a proprietary blend of New Zealand-grown hops. The gem of our New Zealand-centric lineup. It brings us so much joy to make these beverages. We hope their stories can add to your enjoyment of them. Thank you for reading - have a great Sunday.

A beer created from passion, travel, and discovery. Magic of Garston represents what we love so much about our craft. Creating it required chance, persistence, and the birth of a trans-pacific relationship that we hope continues well into the future. Here is what we share on the can: To say that our experience at Garston Hops in the Southland of New Zealand had an impact on us would be an understatement. This chance encounter marked the culmination of an unforgettable and impressionable odyssey through the land of the long white cloud. Here, we discovered a hop character entirely unique in its vibrancy and complexity. Brewed with both Garston Nelson and Garston Rakau, Magic of Garston pours a turbid pale yellow color into your glass and explodes with notes of Sauvignon Blanc, apricot, mango, and juicy citrus. Wow! As fans of Tree House and our hoppy beer, we hope beers such as this will stoke a flame of passion about the future because we will continue to pursue new and innovative experiences such as Magic of Garston with our whole hearts. Enjoy!
