The coffee team at Tree House loves a good Nariño, as it is easily one of the finest regions of Colombia we source from. Nariño is a coffee-growing paradise - with a towering elevation of nearly 2,000 meters. The higher the elevation, the cooler the temperature, which means the coffee plants have more time to mature and build up that sweetness in each coffee cherry, a sweetness we know and love specifically from El Chocho and producer Andres Gomez. You may even recognize these names because this is the third year we are using his coffee! Once a familiar component in our Valentine's Day blend Sweetheart, we started roasting it as a single origin last year and needed to run it back for a third. The coffee crew is tasting notes of black cherry and pinot noir, balanced with a syrupy body. Working alongside producer Andres Muñoz from Finca Progreso (meaning “the progress”), this coffee is, indeed, a symbol of progress. Our coffee department has been continuously communicating with importers and farmers, building those relationships in order to roast and brew these mind-blowing varietals just for you. Pink bourbon is a hybrid Ethiopian varietal, first discovered in Colombia, and highlighted by its strikingly pink cherry, yellow fruit tangy sweetness, and strong floral, tropical aroma.
