This batch of Wanderer is dry-hopped with hand-selected Hallertau Mittelfrüh. Pouring a brilliant gold in the glass, it presents aromas of juicy citrus, floral tea, and a pleasantly grassy finish. Traveling down from Montana’s Glacier National Park, past the Salish Mountains and through Flathead National Forest, you’ll find a truly special farm: Flathead Valley Hops. Nestled among stunning American varieties, it was a German hop that caught our attention. These are the moments we geek out on as brewers. Hallertau Mittelfrüh is used heavily in European lagers, and it is the parent of a multitude of American hops. One of its more recent offshoots for example, Hallertau Blanc, exhibits sweet fruit and white grape characteristics more commonly associated with New Zealand varieties. So when we find the original variety, grown somewhere we wouldn’t expect, it brings its character into sharp focus on our palates. It's what 'craft' is all about.

Wanderer and Trail on back-to-back days is just magnificent. Trail is our German Pilsner, a crisp, zippy, and traditionally hopped lager. We’ve been making this Lager longer than any other, and our technique when brewing and lagering it continues to gather nuance, ever refining its refreshing profile. It would be impossible to overstate the time, energy, and care that go into a single batch. Have you heard of “trail magic,” the term Trail’s name nods to? When on the Appalachian Trail or hiking the Pacific Northwest Trail, there are all sorts of kindnesses you stumble upon: a ride into town, fresh socks, food for hikers with bottomless stomachs. But by far the best thing you can feast your eyes on when turning a corner is a cooler of ice-cold beer left by some angel in a nearby town. When the days are measured in miles, this is the beer we would have been dreaming about. Trail is a reminder that the little things mean a great deal, especially when you least expect them.
