Following primary fermentation, this carefully-managed batch of Trail receives a judicious dose of Peacharine hops grown by our friends Freestyle Hops in Upper Moutere, New Zealand. This treatment elevates the flavor profile, presenting notes of tropical fruit and summer stone fruit atop a zippy and entirely crushable base beer.
We saved the other half of our batch of Trail for a good old New Zealand dry hop. Trail Peacharine is our crisp German Pilsner with a dose of the stone fruit hero that is Peacharine. #productphotography #productphotodaily #photography #craftbeer #treehousebrewing #beergram #beerstagram #beersandcameras #beerlover #beerbeerbeer #beerme #beergeek #beertography #beernerd #fujifilm #gfx100II @fujifilmx_us@profoto
Trail Peacharine! IPA's get all the attention when it comes to hops, but some of our favorite varieties shine extra brightly on top of a pilsner base. Our DH trail series is a chance to get to know these hops in a whole new way. #productphotography #productphotodaily #photography #craftbeer #treehousebrewing #beergram #beerstagram #beersandcameras #beerlover #beerbeerbeer #beerme #beergeek #beertography #beernerd #fujifilm #gfx100II @fujifilmx_us@profoto
Trail Peacharine embodies everything we love about modern craft beer. It contains a hop at the cutting edge of hop expression, grown by a grower dedicated to connecting the dots of hop sensory in the field to the finished beer. It makes an impression, but it's still light and airy. It takes tremendous patience to be packaged at its peak. It's fresh today at Tree House and for most of the summer. #productphotography #productphotodaily #photography #craftbeer #treehousebrewing #beergram #beerstagram #beersandcameras #beerlover #beerbeerbeer #beerme #beergeek #beertography #beernerd #fujifilm #gfx100II @fujifilmx_us@profoto
With the trip’s energy reaching a fever pitch, we arrived @freestylehops in Upper Moutere, where Freestyle Managing Director Dave Dunbar greeted us. Our passion for hops mirrors David’s—he is obsessed with connecting the dots between how hops present themselves in the field and how they work out in a finished beer. Seasoned and well-traveled brewers understand that it is not always so clear, and the more experience you have out in the field, the clearer the connections become. The conversations during this stop got super technical; much of this back and forth was captured in an upcoming short film of our trip. This was the first of two stops at Freestyle - one to capture the essence of each variety’s peak on the bine and a second to ensure we had a chance to vet every lot grown after the harvest had concluded. During this stop and in years past, we’ve experienced Peacharine, Nelson Sauvin, Motueka, Riwaka, and more on the bine at peak expression during the harvest. It would be hard to express in words what it is like to experience these hops in the field, so we say this with all of the sincerity in the world: we’ve made it our life’s work to attempt to bring you this experience in cans of Tree House. At the conclusion of our visit, out in the experimental field, we even had the chance to experience Chinook grown in New Zealand. If you’re a fan of Sap, you can imagine how exciting this moment was for us! Stay tuned, there will be one more post on this first stop to Freestyle, which will touch a bit more on their ethos. Freestyle has been super accommodating working with is to bring Peacharine to the US as quickly as possible, and you can experience it in fresh Trail Peacharine and Jubilee, currently available at Tree House. After a great day in Freestyle’s illustrious hop gardens, we were back at the coast for dinner to reflect on our new learnings and discuss the road ahead.
We are overjoyed to introduce the inaugural batch of Trail Peacharine. This beer is the first to feature Peacharine from the 2023 crop here in the United States. Following the excitement we felt experiencing the aromatics of this hop in the field during our Spring trip, we had a pallet air-freighted to us directly from the field. Trail Peacharine showcases this exceptional hop variety cultivated by our partners at Freestyle Hops in the Upper Moutere region of New Zealand. The beer is notable for its softness and vibrancy and is imbued with a juicy stone fruit character throughout. Unlike IPA or Double IPA, Peacharine serves as an accent here, but it permeates the flavor profile in a truly satisfying way. In short, it is delicious and crushable. Today is your chance to enjoy a bit of that New Zealand magic with us.
