The delightfully complex beer in this bottle enjoys quite the journey before reaching this bottle. It begins as Tree of Life aged in Buffalo Trace and Wild Turkey barrels for 1 year, blended together, then re-barreled into several different apple brandy barrels for an additional three months.
Double Baked is one of our favorite beers ever from our barrel program, so it is with much delight that we release Thrice Baked, a rendition based on it's esteemed brethren. In order to make Thrice Baked, first we put our robust barleywine, Tree of Life, into second-use apple brandy barrels. After aging for over a year, we blended this with a thread of our Blonde Barleywine, which has been aging for over two years in select bourbon barrels, before finally adding whole vanilla beans and cinnamon into the mix. The result is a complex confectionary treat full of spiced apple character, warming cinnamon, and comforting vanilla, interwoven with traditional barrel-aged barleywine flavors of brown sugar, fruit leather, and subtle tobacco. This decadent libation is a true sipper, best enjoyed slowly to really allow the flavors and aromas to come through. It is available in Charlton today and all locations tomorrow! #productphotography #productphotodaily #photography #craftbeer #treehousebrewing #beergram #beerstagram #beersandcameras #beerlover #beerbeerbeer #beerme #beergeek #beertography #beernerd #fujifilm #gfx100II @fujifilmx_us@profoto
1.13.23 Double Baked is an amazingly delicious, amazing complex barleywine whose journey is quite the story. Please read on to learn about this one-of-a-kind beer that has been over a year and a half in the making. It begins as Tree of Life aged in Buffalo Trace and Wild Turkey barrels for 1 year, blended together, then re-barreled into several different apple brandy barrels for an additional three months. It is then reblended with a Tree of Life Rum aged in a rum barrel for 15 months. The rum barrel rendition carries many caramel characteristics that support the apple character from the brandy blend. Finally, we blend in a small thread of Weizenbock that was aged in an orange bitters barrel for fourteen months. This barrel and its hefeweizen yeast add warming spice aromas and flavors throughout. Indulge in a rich and complex blend of caramel, apple, and holiday spices, all supported by a robust barrel character in this wholly unique offering. This is an imaginative, inventive beer that provides a new experience in the realm of barleywine. We hope that you enjoy it as much as we do.
