While traversing the peaks, fog rises from the tree line, migrating across the sloping ground like a ghostly herd. Sitting above the clouds and under the shadow of the mountain’s open jaws, you’ll find Brewster Hut. The only evidence of humans in sight, the hut appears like a discarded brick from some abandoned project; our hubris checked against the power of these elder terrains.
Brewster Hut is crafted with the quintessential New Zealand blend. Nelson hops are one fo the most distinctive varieties carrying notes of crushed white grape, tropical lychee, and passionfruit juice. Rakau lends myriad stone-fruit and tropical notes, with a distinct pop of zesty lime juice. For those of us with a flair for adventure, we all know the feeling when we reach shelter in a wild terrain. We took this picture on a rare off day during hop selection, after miles of rugged terrain, the clouds parted and unveiled this unlikely respite. The legendary Brewster Hut. It's a beer we only brew from time to time, requiring a thoughtful blend of our hand-selected hops. This combo of hops is commonplace across New Zealand, and we dutifully recreate its profile in an attempt to transport ourselves back to moments like the ones that adorn beers like this. We hope you get a chance to try it while it's here.
We loved the first batch of Brewster Hut so much that we had to run it back. As is so often the case, our travels inform our inspiration. We took this image of Brewster Hut on a side quest during this spring's New Zealand hop selection. The landscape in New Zealand can be jaw-droppingly beautiful, familiar, and alien all at once. It's no wonder the hops grown there have characteristics that can't be replicated anywhere else on the planet. Brewster Hut is a New Zealand IPA using Rakau and Nelson hops, which bursts with flavors of apricot, white grape, red plum, and ripe pineapple. It has a beautiful, deep orange opacity that stuns in your glass. Enjoy what's likely to be the last batch of this gem for a long time. #productphotography #productphotodaily #photography #craftbeer #treehousebrewing #beergram #beerstagram #beersandcameras #beerlover #beerbeerbeer #beerme #beergeek #beertography #beernerd #fujifilm #gfx100II @fujifilmx_us@profoto
Our travels to distant lands in search of understanding hop growers inform so much of what we do. Our passion for photography also graces our work in many places. A trip up Quandary Peak, which towers high above Billy Goat Hop farm, produced the image on the can for Trail Billy Goat Cascade. An image of the Oregon coast, just adjacent to the green hop fields of the Willamette Valley, hugs ‘Nothing For Granted.’ A stay at Lake Tekapo gave us the vibrant image of the Milky Way on the ‘Land of the Dark Night Sky.’ And the list goes on. This year, we snapped the picture adorning this special release the day after selecting hops with our friends in Garston, in the Southland of New Zealand. The legendary Brewster Hut towers high above the valley and shelters weary hikers on their way across the ridge, to the glaciers, and beyond. Brewster Hut is a true ‘New Zealand IPA’ inspired by the trip’s events. In America, we have Citra + Mosaic. In New Zealand, the most popular hop combination is Nelson & Rakau. We’ve tried our best to bring vibrancy and energy to this iconic New Zealand combo. Enjoy - this is available in all MA and NY locations today.
