Harmony is brewed with Nelson hops and puts forth aromas of citrus, tropical fruit, white grape, and gooseberries. Harmony is an American IPA brewed with our House yeast and Nelson Sauvin hops sourced from New Zealand. It is not a new beer, but a revived one.
Harmony was brewed for the first time way back in 2014. Since then we’ve spent over a decade honing our understanding of how hops express themselves on the bine, on the rubbing table, and ultimately in our finished beer. We’ve never relented on our mission to bring you the most expressive, characterful, and delicious beers possible—and we never will. We hope each can of Harmony captures a but of the magic of where it originates.
We're thinking about our team today, which is currently selecting hops in New Zealand. Every year, we make the epic journey to the other side of the world to bring you the spoils of these famous and singular hop growers. Nelson hops and their unique profile first endeared American palates to this island nation's magical terroir: this beer celebrates this legendary variety. Notes of passionfruit and bright white grape burst from this Single IPA crusher. This is Ross. Ross is an aircraft mechanic, mega rugby fan, and dedicated homebrewer and distiller. The hop selection team made a stop into his ‘Westie Brauhaus’ in West Melton New Zealand following a morning at Gladfield Malt and en route to Upper Moutere to taste his home brew and to say hello. Tree House’s homebrew history is extensive. It’s mostly unknown that Tree House operated as a commercial nano-brewery on a ten-gallon setup for almost a year. That bootstrapped mentality and the passion for our craft that comes with it continues to energize us to this day. It was with great delight that we had a window to visit Ross’ homebrew shed! This visit was part of an ongoing YouTube series where we randomly chose ten out of five hundred brewers to send their beer in to be tasted on the channel. Ross, who resides in West Melton, New Zealand, was selected to send in his beer. But here’s where the story gets good - West Melton was right on our planned route from Garston Hops to the Nelson region, and stopping by would work in our ambitious itinerary! So, 10,000 miles from home, we connected and tasted Ross’s American Pale Ale and Hazy IPA in person! We also enjoyed crawfish, House-made goat milk feta, native honey, House-made Gin, and some good old-fashioned New Zealand hospitality. We gifted Ross a can of Harmony on the way out, and to our delight he shared images of a bike trip to Mount Cook where he enjoyed a Harmony in the very place represented on a label. How cool is that? We’ve linked the video in today’s story. We hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed this chapter of the trip! Thanks, Ross! #homebrewing #craftbeer
Swipe right for Harmony. These images were shot at Aoraki / Mount Cook from the exact location depicted on the can. When the beer (and the can) was originally designed, it was an imaginary place for us. Getting to experience it as part of our now-critical New Zealand hop selection is surreal. We hope to bring you some of that experience in each can of Harmony. There is a little bit left remaining from the current batch.
Inspired by a wonderful place filled with kind people, beautiful scenery, and wonderfully distinctive agricultural characteristics, Harmony was born way back in 2014. We are delighted to have this Tree House original back! Enjoy!
It would be impossible to overstate how important our journey to Australia and New Zealand was this spring for our hoppy beer program. Harmony is a beer at the center of that energy, featuring purposefully selected Nelson Sauvin hops from our friends in the land of the long white cloud. Pouring a beautifully hazy yellow color into your glass, it emits amazing notes of passion fruit and citrus.
